SCCPSS's and my expectations: Cell phones/electronics must be turned in at homeroom. Electronics may NOT be used during school hours. Students will use the school phone to call only a parent or guardian. **Should the student refuse to hand in electronics and it is seen out, the SRO, a teacher, or an administrator may confiscate the phone and hold it for 30 days or until a parent picks it up at the office. Refusal will be duly noted on the discipline log. *** Students will sign in the cell phone at homeroom and out at dismissal. They will be stored in a student's individual envelope. Envelopes are stored in a box. The box is stored in a cabinet without student access. Students wear school I.D. at all times. Proper uniform colors. Tutorial Policy
Tutorial is offered for students who have missing or late work. I must receive notice from a parent of his/her permission for a student EACH TIME a student is to stay for tutorial. Send an e mail, call, or give the student a written, signed note with a verification phone number. I must receive notice no later than 2:30 pm the day before tutorial. NO EXCEPTIONS to any part of this policy.
Student-Call-Student: Students are encouraged to exchange contact information with at least 2 other students. This is helpful to get information about missed homework or classwork, obtain notes, etc.
The Disciplinary Process
I have a 'tic mark' sheet in each class to keep record of student behavior in any area of the school. It is used to monitor behavior in the hallways, during restroom breaks, and in the cafeteria among other times. The violations listed are those that may cause a disruption or distraction while in the classroom or while students move from one location to another. Each time the student receives a total of three tic marks, s/he moves a step further through the team discipline process. The discipline sheet is changed weekly. The count of inappropriate behaviors begins anew every Monday. The steps are as follows: Step 1/Violation 1. Verbal Warning– the student is told that s/he has received 3 tic marks and that I expect an improvement . (This is the only time that the parent is not officially notified, with expectation that the student will accept the responsibility of improving behaviorally). Step 2/Violation 2. Parent Contacts – parents will be alerted by e mail, phone call, text, or on paper. Please speak with your child regarding appropriate behavior in school. Should a parent have any questions, please contact me so that we may discuss the issue at hand. ***Team Time Outs– first for 10 minutes, second for the class period, third for the day whereby the student must stay with a different class throughout the day working quietly. Step 3/ Violation 3. Detention – a) the student must stay after school for detention either with a teacher from the team or grade level. b) A parent conference will be scheduled. Step 4/ Violation 4.The teacher is required according to the school discipline rubric to assign a second detention before writing an office referral. Step 5/ Violation 5. Office Referral – an office referral is written stating that the student has been through the team discipline process and the administrator notifies the parents and assigns consequences. All offenses on the clipboard are considered Level One offenses. A list of these can be found in the Student Code of Conduct. The office referral is seen as a Level 2 offense in accordance to the Code of Conduct.
